ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rises to 25,002 with 429 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health department official said on Wednesday.

The death toll rose to 104 after two more persons from the Capital Complex Region and Upper Subansiri district with comorbities succumbed to the infection since Sunday, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

A 60-year-old man from Karshingsa near here, died at the Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) at Chimpu on Tuesday due to Covid Pneumonia with Diabetes Mellitus and Hypertension, while another man (55) from Upper Subansiri died at his residence on Sunday due to cardio respiratory failure, the official said.

The Capital Complex region recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 103, followed by Tawang (49), Lower Subansiri (42), Changlang (39), East Siang (27), Lohit (23), West Kameng (22), Lower Dibang Valley (19), Papumpare and Upper Subansiri at 18 each, Namsai (17) and East Kameng (14).

Nine each new cases were also recorded in Kamle and Upper Siang, six from Leparada, five from Kra Daadi, four from Anjaw, two each from Tirap and Dibang Valley and one from Pakke Kessang, the SSO said.

Of the fresh cases, 401 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 15 through RT-PCR and 13 through TrueNat method, the official said adding, 156 people have symptoms.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 3,323 active cases.

As many as 230 more people were recovered from the disease on Tuesday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 21,575.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state stand at 86.29 per cent while the active percentage stands at 13.29 and the positivity rate at 6.38 per cent, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 626, followed by Changlang (381), Tawang (348), Lower Subansiri (252), Namsai (235), Lower Dibang Valley (218), Lohit (193), West Kameng (182), Upper Subansiri (172), East Siang at (130) and Upper Siang at 104.

Altogether, 5,46,447 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 6,714 on Tuesday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that over three lakh 3,36,625 people have been inoculated so far in the state since the vaccination drive began in January.

Keeping in view the spurt in corona virus cases, the state government has imposed complete lockdown in nine districts of the state till May 31 next.
