ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 50,372 with 302 more people testing positive for the infection, a senior health department official said here on Tuesday.

The death toll in the north-eastern State increased to 246 as four more persons, including a lady, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

A 60-year-old man and another 54-year old man from the Capital Complex Region, a 65-year-old person from Lohit and a 30-year old lady from West Kameng, all with comorbidities, died while undergoing treatment at various health facilities, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region recorded the highest number of new cases at 78, followed by Lower Subansiri (35), Papumpare and Tawang at 26 cases each, West Kameng (25), Upper Siang (17), Lower Dibang Valley (13) and East Siang at 11 cases. Ten fresh cases each were also reported from Kamle and Leparada, nine from Lohit, eight from Shi-Yomi, six each from Anjaw and Upper Subansiri, four each from Namsai and Changlang, two each from West Siang, Dibang Valley, Siang, East Kameng, Lower Siang and Longding and one each from Kurung Kumey and Tirap district respectively, the SSO said. Among the fresh cases, 272 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 15 through RT-PCR and 15 by TrueNat methods, the official said, adding that 132 people were with symptoms.

The active cases in the State now stand at 2,606, he said. The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the State stand at 94.34 per cent while the active percentage stands at 5.17 and the positivity rate at 5.50 per cent, the official said. Altogether, 9,81,399 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State so far, including 5,483 on Monday, Jampa said.

Meanwhile, State Immunization Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,86,518 people had been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the State since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
