ITANAGAR: Four hundred and fourty three (443) more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the State to 46,800. The death toll increased to 221 after three more persons, including a lady, succumbed to the infection in the past two days, said State Surveillance officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa here on Wednesday.

A 64-year-old lady from Changlang, including a person (43) from Lohit died on Tuesday while another man (80) from Upper Subansiri district died due to the infection on Monday. All the persons were undergoing treatment at various health facilities.

The Capital Complex Region registered the highest number of fresh cases at 123, followed by Lower Subansiri (47), Papumpare (37), Namsai (27), Lohit and West Kameng at 21 each, Upper Subansiri and Tirap at 19 each and West Siang at 18 cases, the official said.

A total of 15 fresh cases were also recorded in Tawang, 14 each from Dibang Valley and East Siang, Lower Siang (13), Changlang (10), nine from Lower Dibang Valley, eight from East Kameng, five each from Anjaw and Kamle, four each from Upper Siang and Longding, three each from Leparada and Siang, two from Pakke Kessang and one each from Kra Daadi and Kurung Kumey district respectively.

Among the fresh cases, 407 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 19 through RT-PCR and 17 by TrueNat methods, said the SSO, adding that 180 people were symptomatic. The active cases in the State now stand at 4,287.

As many as 472 patients were cured of the disease on Tuesday taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 42,292.

The recovery rate among Coronavirus patients stand at 90.37 per cent while the active percentage stands at 9.16 and the positivity rate at 6.87 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region — comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas — has the highest number of active cases at 1,149, followed by Lohit (326), Papumpare (324), Lower Subansiri (315), West Kameng (253) and East Siang at 212 cases.

Altogether, 9,14,835 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 6,447 on Tuesday, added Jampa.

Meanwhile, State Immunisation Officer (SSO) Dr Dimong Padung informed that a total of 8,36,134 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine doses so far in the state since the inoculation drive began in January this year.
