Arunachal Pradesh: Section 144 imposed in Vijoynagar by Changlang DC

Changlang (Arunachal Pradesh): Changlang Deputy Commissioner (DC) Devansh Yadav imposed Section 144 in Vijoynagar Circle in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Section 144 was imposed on Monday, which prohibits the gathering of five or more than five persons.

Section 144 is a ruling that prohibits the gathering of the public in a given jurisdiction. It is imposed in a given region during an emergency situation or perceived danger of some event that can create troubling situations or is a threat to human lives or property.

The Changlang District Administration took this step following the plans of All Yobin Students' Union. The administration received information about the students' union taking out a rally on December 15.

DC Devansh Yadav said that the violators will be dealt as per Government rules and law.

The administration has invited all the stakeholder "for constructive discussion for a common peaceful future."

DC Yadav further said that all the issues can be resolved by talks and discussions. The District Administration will always protect the interest of its citizens, said the DC. He also urged the youth of Vijoynagar to abide by the law and the government orders. He appealed to the community leaders to let peace prevail in the area.

Normalcy is returning to the remote town of Vijoynagar in Arunachal Pradesh. On December 11, violent protests broke out at Vijoynagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Several government offices were destroyed by the protestors. The protestors were protesting over the voting rights of former Assam Rifles personnel in the panchayat polls.

The police have arrested a total of 24 persons in connection with the violence that broke out on December 11 in Vijoynagar.

A small border town, Vijoynagar falls under the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh and is surrounded by the neighbouring country Myanmar on three sides.
