ITANAGAR: The education department of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) is set to organized a day-long national seminar on March 3, focusing on the integration of Indian knowledge systems (IKS) into modern education.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes India’s rich heritage of knowledge and thought, advocating for its inclusion at all levels of education. The seminar aims to highlight the importance of IKS in creating a more holistic and inclusive academic framework that respects India’s cultural legacy.
Coordinator of the event, Dr. Sushant Kumar Nayak, shared that the seminar’s key objectives include spreading awareness about IKS, preserving indigenous tribal cultural aspects, and exploring traditional knowledge systems within tribal societies.
Additionally, it seeks to discuss the relevance of IKS in contemporary contexts and promote its integration into the curriculum in alignment with NEP 2020.
The event will also emphasise the significance of indigenous practices in environmental protection, art and craft, music, food, lifestyle, health, and medicine.
The inaugural session will be chaired by RGU vice-chancellor Prof. Sushanta Kumar Nayak. Prof Bharat Kumar Panda from Central University Odisha will deliver the keynote address, while Dr A K Mishra, state liaison officer, will also present at the event.
Approximately 70 research scholars and educators are expected to present their research papers during the seminar.
“All the arrangements have been made, and we look forward to welcoming our guests and paper presenters,” said Prof. P.K. Acharya, head of the education department at RGU.
