Itanagar: In a major push to improve early grade education across Arunachal Pradesh, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) successfully concluded a four-day capacity-building programme aimed at preparing key resource persons (KRPs) and master trainers in foundational pedagogy.
Held in two phases, from June 9 to 12 and June 16 to 19, the training brought together over 87 participants, including DIET faculty members and practicing teachers from across the state.
The initiative is part of SCERT’s broader effort to strengthen Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and foundational learning from the ground up, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the national NIPUN Bharat mission.
By equipping DIETs and selected teachers with pedagogical tools and leadership skills, the programme aims to drive reforms in classrooms from pre-primary to grade 3.
SCERT Director Toko Babu inaugurated the programme and underscored the importance of foundational learning in shaping long-term educational outcomes. He urged the KRPs to mentor and inspire teachers in achieving Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) goals through a mission-driven approach.
The training was conducted in partnership with the Reach to Teach Foundation and featured a blended learning model that integrated conceptual understanding with practical exercises.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, group discussions, reflective planning, and strategic implementation activities.
Key focus areas included pedagogical strategies for early language and numeracy, use of teaching-learning materials like Jaadui Pitara, orientation on state-specific educational priorities, digital platforms such as DIKSHA and PM eVidya, and competency-based assessments for the upcoming academic year.
