Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte on Thursday underscored the transformative journey of the state’s legislature over the past five decades, calling it a vital platform for representing the voice of tribal communities, women, and youth. Speaking at a national seminar commemorating the Golden Jubilee of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, here, Pongte traced its evolution from a Provisional Legislative Assembly on August 15, 1975, to attaining full statehood in 1987. The Speaker described the Assembly as not only the epicenter of policymaking but also the guardian of constitutional values in the state. He urged all stakeholders to collectively contribute towards a more inclusive and progressive Arunachal Pradesh, drawing strength from both traditional wisdom and modern legislative frameworks. The seminar, titled ‘50 Years of Democratic Journey in Arunachal Pradesh: Indigenous Governance and Modern Legislature’, was held at the D K Auditorium of the Assembly Secretariat, here.
