Arunachal: Two Arrested for Alleged Fraud in Postal Department Scam

SEIJOSA: The Pakke Kesang District Police have arrested two individuals, Gona Kanta Hazarika and Umesh Hazarika, for allegedly orchestrating a large-scale fraud that targeted numerous individuals and businesses associated with the Postal Department under the Seijosa Division.

The arrests were made by a Seijosa police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sang Thinley, SI Duyu Talley, and Constable M. Ete, under the supervision of DySP Sashi Dore, after multiple attempts. Both accused have been booked under Sections 316(4)/318(4)/115(2)/351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to SP Pakke Kesang, Tasi Darang, the arrests follow weeks of meticulous investigation utilizing both technical and human intelligence. The police gathered substantial evidence to build a strong case against the accused.

During a well-coordinated operation involving police teams from Seijosa and Sootea, the accused Umesh Hazarika was apprehended this morning, successfully closing the pending case registered at the Seijosa Police Station. Authorities revealed that the accused were involved in a fraudulent scheme that deceived victims with false promises of lucrative returns on investments in the National Savings Scheme, ultimately cheating innocent people out of their money.
