NAHARLAGUN: The Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Arunachal Pradesh has launched the first indoor navigation app in Northeast India, which is a groundbreaking step for healthcare accessibility. Health Minister Biyuram Wahge officially unveiled the app today, along with a complementary software tool, Scan & Feedback, aimed at enhancing patient experience within the hospital.

The new Navigation Scan App, which was designed by Minister Wahge, offers hospital employees, patients, and visitors a digital wayfinding option as they roam through the expansive TRIHMS complex in Naharlagun. Users can get real-time directions to different departments by just scanning the software, which guarantees smooth travel around the multi-building complex.

Minister Wahge emphasized the app’s significance, particularly for patients with vision impairments or disabilities, as it allows them to move through the hospital with ease using their smartphones. TRIHMS Director Moji Jini hailed the initiative as a long-awaited necessity, stating that it would enhance accessibility, improve patient experience, and boost staff efficiency while reducing operational burdens.

Gomi Basar, head of the IT department at TRIHMS, compared the app’s functionality to Google Maps, noting its ability to provide precise directions to critical areas such as the blood bank and emergency units. The technology was developed by IIT Mumbai graduate Premjit Kumar, who highlighted the app’s role in streamlining hospital navigation and improving efficiency for both healthcare personnel and visitors.
