ITANAGAR: The Capital Police arrested a habitual crook 'Giogi Tagung' and seized 17 mobile phones and cash amounting Rs. 8,500 from his possession from Banderdewa, here on Friday.

Capital SP Jimmy Chiram informed that the accused is a habitual offender and has been arrested many times in various theft cases.

He said, earlier a written complaint was received by the Naharlagun Police by one S Nabam Pol alleging that unknown miscreants had broken into his 'Galaxy Mobile Store', near Daily Market, Naharlagun.

According to the complaint the accused broke into the mobile shop and stole 17 mobile phones amounting to Rs. 2, 47,404, and cash memo register. Accordingly a case was registered at Naharlagun police station and an investigation was launched, he added.

Chiram informed that a team of capital police led by SDPO, Naharlagun R. Kamsi, and Officer in charge, Naharlagun Inspector K. Yangfo, Investigating Officer AK Pandey under his supervision succeeded to arrest the habitual crook.

He said a thorough investigation; including verifying the electronic surveillance, helped them to finally nab the crook from Banderdewa on Friday.

Meanwhile, Capital Police requested the public to remain alert and install good quality CCTV cameras along with proper lighting in their premises.

It is also informed that the capital SP, impressed by the early arrest of the crook, will be awarding a suitable reward to the investigating team.
