ROING: The 1st edition of a Career Counselling Fair was held on Thursday at the Government Secondary School here by the district administration of Lower Dibang Valley.

Around 950 students from various schools of the area participated in the event, which was attended by Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng, Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi, ZPC Obang Ngupok, Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh, ZPMs and heads of departments, teachers and parents.

MLA Gum Tayeng termed as it a beneficial programme for the students and said that knowledge on different careers is important in this competitive world, for the students to go forward.

"We were never given this advantage and the permission to study, so don't miss this opportunity, study hard and achieve your aims," she advised the students.

MLA Mutchu Mithi, addressing the students, stated that if a student is educated then the nation will prosper and so advised the students to take full advantage of the programme.

He was appreciative of the efforts of the district administration to guide the students and added that the true value of the programme would be felt only in the future when students looked back and remembered the guidance provided to them.

He also stated that one's greatest enemy was oneself and asked the student to stop hesitating and holding themselves back and work towards their dreams and fulfil their aspirations.

DC Soumya Saurabh laid stress on the need for career guidance and career counselling sessions for students and hoped for a successful outcome of the programme.

The day saw career counselling sessions on Archaeology by RIWATCH, Journalism by Karyir Riba, Medical by Dr KB Among, Commerce by CO Gaurav Panwar, Defence(Air Force) by Wing Commander SL Shanmugan, Engineering by DGM (NHPC) Niranjan Singh, Forestry by S Manyu, Agri/Horti by Kato Tayeng, Government Exams and their coaching by Vimal Singh and his team from Photon IAS, Humanities by representatives from KG B Ed College and ITI by Ikar Lollen.
