Coordination meeting on Yomgo River Festival held at Itanagar

Itanagar: A meeting in connection with the celebration of Yomgo River Festival was held under the Chairmanship of West Siang Deputy Commissioner at his office on Saturday.

The DC said that venue of the festival has to be decided first as construction of log and bamboo bridge over Yomgo River not only incur cost involvement but poses security threat to accommodate thousands of people that come and go to the venue.

The annual event should be able to showcase rich values of culture, practices, art and handicraft from tourism perspective and events have to be managed by professional event manager to make it better year by year, an official communique informed here on Saturday. Separate Committees should be constituted to for every event and a core committee will supervise those constituted committees for successful celebration, the DC said and sought wholehearted participation by officers and public.

District Tourism Officeri TK Kopak outlined the broad objective behind conducting the meeting and said that such a big festival require involvement of all strata of people to make it a calendar event in the district.

The head of offices who attended the meeting also gave useful suggestion on venue, date, mode of celebration, tendering of event and appointment of event manager, law and order problem, mobilization through social media etc., the communique added.
