BOMDILA: Following direction by the State government, the Health Department of West Kameng district has set up two COVID-19 testing centers at the entry point into the district, informed DMO (District Medical Officer), R.D. Tongchi. One such testing centre has been set up at Bhalukpong while the other has come up at Balemu. Active screening has been initiated in both the entry points, added Tongchi.

However, the entry and screening at the Balemu entry point is reserved only for the military and the para-military personnel, he said, adding that civilians have been directed to enter the district from the Bhalukpong side with proper screening. "We have already reactivated the district CCC (COVID Care Centre) and the designated CHC (COVID Healthcare Centre). Even the roasters have been prepared and accordingly sufficient manpower has been placed," he said.

He also informed that there are 38 COVID-active cases in the district by the end of March this year, adding that all are asymptomatic and in home isolation now. "Among them, while 27 are from the Army, one is an SSB personnel from Dirang; three civilians each from Bomdila, Dirang, and Rupa; besdies another civilian from Nafra," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, he also appealed to the public as well as the military personnel to follow the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) issued in the interest of the public by the State government in the fight against the COVID pandemic.

Insofar as the numbers of COVID-19 active cases are concerned, West Kameng district stands third after the Itanagar Capital Complex and Lower Dibang Valley.
