LOWER SUBANSIRI: The Panchayat leaders along with Necha-Nor Society, Bazar Committee of Raka and Tajgi of Lower Subansiri district, in a representation submitted to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Ziro demanded demarcation of the territorial jurisdiction of Kamle district Forest Division and Lower Subansiri district from Ziro-Pamluk.
The memorandum said that the leaders and public won't allow the creation of Kamle Forest Division until the bifurcation of land is made from Ziro-Pamluk, 28km from Pamyuk River to Tokoi Putung of Hapoli Forest Division as per ancestral, traditional and administrative boundary declared decades ago.
According to the press statement, the forest jurisdiction of both the districts starts 28 Km from Pumyuk River to Tokio Putung and the same is the case in the traditional boundary between the Necha-Nor, Haru-Hamar and other adjoining clans residing nearby.
"Also the claim by the AB-Jill Welfare Society over the ancestral community land of Necha-Nor and Haru-Hamar clan is vague, illogical and unwarranted," it further stated.
It further added that the then Deputy Commissioner of Ziro, Naresh Kumar after a communal clash over the land in the year 1993 had made physical verification and declared the boundary from the same location.
The public has made a clear stand that not a single inch of community land will be allowed to fall under the Kamle Forest Division, whatever it may be.
