ITANAGAR: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has demanded the state government to disclose the entire investigation report on the alleged murder case of Tumi Gangkak within a week, failing which it has threatened to launch democratic movements in the state capital.
Addressing the media at the press club on Thursday, GWS General Secretary Nyadar Loya said that, on the advice of society, the Kargu Kardi Welfare Society (KKWS) has already submitted a memorandum to the state government demanding the same. Besides the disclosure of the investigation report in public, other demands included the immediate arrest or suspension of SIC state police official Bomchu Krong and adequate compensation to the deceased's family. The memorandum was submitted on March 13.
Expressing discontentment over the investigation process, he said that despite the passage of months, the investigation has yet to see any results. Therefore, the GWS demands that the report of the fact-finding committee, headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi, be made public.
He also appealed to the Home Department to furnish the media with the results of the investigation to date. So that the investigation details of the department can be compared with the facts obtained by the committee formed by GWS in regard to the matter.
The GWS has constituted a committee to investigate the mysterious death of Kangkak on a personal level. It was necessary because of the lack of interest shown by the state police department in the matter," he said, adding that an ample amount of time has been given to the police. The deceased family also met with Home Minister Bamang Felix earlier and appraised their demands. Subsequently, the minister assured to take up the matter for discussion with the CM. But, despite the passage of two weeks, the family is yet to receive any response. "If the state government discloses the investigation report with us or to the public through the media, we will compare our facts and information with their report. If it is ok or there is still a need for work by the police, we will appraise the areas for in-depth investigation so as to bring to a proper conclusion of the matter," he said, adding that the police department should not forget the FIR was registered for 'murder'.
Tumi Gangkak (42) was found dead hanging in a tree at the tri-junction of Itanagar Zoological Park and Poma village. He belonged to the West Siang district and was presently residing at his government house in P-Sector here. Following the ongoing APPSC cash-for-job scam, Gangak was under suspension from his job. According to the sources, Gangak was summoned by the CBI before the incident.
Also, following the incident, the deceased family tried to bury the body of the deceased at the APPSC office premise. Subsequently, the Home Department called a meeting and promised to fast-track the case. Also, the police have detained SIC officials Tapun Messar and Bomchu Krong, and the earlier unnatural death case registered by the police was reverted under the murder case.
