Effective May 1 Arunachal Govt Announces Closure of All Educational Institutions

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to shut down all educational institutions from May 1 in view of the rapidly deteriorating Covid-19 situation in India.

According to a notification, all higher educational institutions including colleges, universities, and polytechnics will remain closed.

The notification reads:

1. All the HEIs (Colleges/Universities/Polytechnics) of Arunachal Pradesh will be closed from Ist May·2021

2. All the hostels will also be closed down from Ist May 202l. All the boarders/students shall vacate the hostels before 151 May'202 I (Saturday) positively.

3. The left out courses/all academic activities and classes will be conducted through ONLINE mode as per the modified Academic Calendar adopted and notified from Lime to time and as per notification vide RGU letter No. AC-5/Calendar/97 (Vol-I), Dated: 24111 Apri l '2021 .

4. Students shall be mentored by the faculty members of respective HEIs through ONLINE mode till completion of the syllabus and clearing of doubts.

5. AJI the private Universities/Central autonomous intuitions of the State shall prepare their respective examinations/academic calendar as per UGC/MoE's latest guidelines and intimate the san1e to concern District Administration and Education Department.

6. All the offices of the HEls shall remain open following all the Covid-19 protocols and SOPs as per the requirement of the head of the Institute.

7. AJI HEIs in the State are to follow COVID-19 pandemic SOPs issued by MHA/UGC/ Health Department I Education department Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh from time 10 time.

8. This notification shall remain effective until further orders.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 17,607 as 70 more people tested positive for the disease during the last 24 hours. The toll tally also rose to 58 as two women, aged 82 and 56, have succumbed to the disease.

28 persons were cured of the disease on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries in the State to 16,968. The recovery rate among Coronavirus patients in the State stood at 96.38 percent. Altogether, 4,36,658 samples have been tested so far, including 2,365 on Sunday, and the positivity rate stands at 3.31 percent, said State Surveillance Officer (SSO) DrLobsangJampa here on Monday.
