BORDUMSA: Joining the nation in the celebration of the 151 birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the denizens of Miao in Changlang district in eastern Arunachal observed the significant day in an inspiring way.

Coinciding with the event, an open mega 'Miao Cyclothon-2020' was also organized here wherein around 56 cyclists under no age-parameter category enthusiastically participated across the beautiful scenic topography of Miao. The cyclists clad in T-shirts provided by the organizers covered a distance of eight kilometres and spread the positive vibes among the masses on the benefits of cycling.

The event was organized by the 'Dapha Valley Tours & Travels' in collaboration with 'SEED' — a local NGO and Cycling Federation of Arunachal Pradesh. Many officers, public leaders and students participated in the event. State MLA and Urban D devbelopment Minister, Kamlung Mossang, flagged off the cyclothon and also participated as a cyclist. He encouraged the participants and general people to take active part in such activities that keep us fit — mentally, physically and emotionally.

Cycling is healthy, fun and a low-impact form of exercise for all people of all ages. It is easy to be fit into daily routine by riding to the shops, parks, educational insitutions and workplaces. When asked during an interaction, Minom Pertin, a naturalist and SEED Deputy Director said, "We are trying to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle through cycling as well as promote adventure tourism in the region through this and similar other events."

He added, "Miao is a perfect place for cycling with world acclaimed Namdapha National Park just nearby. The entire area is naturally beautiful and is covered with greenery. It also has the much needed terrain with hills and slopes making it an ideal place for cycling. The Dapha Valley Tours & Travels is committed to keep organizing such events in the days to come."
