Governor BD Mishra Pleads With Rameshwar Teli for setting up of food processing industries

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Tuesday requested Union Minister Rameshwar Teli to help the State in setting up of food processing units.

The Governor during a meeting with the Minister of State for Food Processing at Raj Bhawan here, explained to him the difficult mountainous terrain of the State for which, timely transportation of agricultural and horticultural produces is very difficult.

“Arunachal Pradesh is leading in the production of organic produce in the country. The best solution to address the issue is to set up small and medium food processing industries in different locations where agro-horticulture products are produced in surplus of the local requirement,” the Governor said.

Dr Mishra also pointed out about kiwi production of Dirang and Ziro, oranges and pineapples of Lohit and Siang Valley, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed.

The Governor requested Teli for organizing training programmes on expertise and the latest technologies in food processing for youth and progressive farmers of the State as apprentices in renowned industries to encourage towards entrepreneurship and self employment.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Industries Minister Tumke Bagra were also present in the meeting, the communiqué added.
