Governor BD Mishra, Taba Tedir discuss education scene in State

ITANAGAR: Education Minister Taba Tedir called on Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here to discuss various issues related to the education sector in the State on Monday.

The Governor emphasised that to have a strong academic foundation, elementary education must be strengthened and focused on. “School children must be motivated and encouraged by their teachers to study well and play regularly to keep fit. The infrastructure in schools must constantly be improved,” the Governor said.

The Governor, who led a cleanliness drive in government primary schools during the weekend, advised the Education Minister to direct the school authorities in the State to regularly visit schools and motivate the teachers and students to participate in cleanliness drives. He stressed that “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” must be an ongoing passion with the youths to promote cleanliness and good hygiene and sanitation habits in the State.

The Governor also advised the minister to promote on “Startup” skill development and vocational training for students from primary school level to post graduate classes.

The Education Minister briefed the Governor regarding the Education Department’s initiatives in the State.
