Implement rights of Persons with Disabilities Act: Thomas Tajo

ITANAGAR: Echo location Researcher and Thinker-Thomas Tajo appealed to the State government to implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in toto in the state on Sunday.

Addressing the media person at Press Club here today, Tajo also urged the state government to appoint a permanent Commissioner for the Persons with Disabilities as per the Act who will work independently for the welfare of the differently-abled persons of the state.

"There are many rights for the differently-abled persons under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 but the state government has yet to implement it," he added while claiming that from job reservation to the exemption in competitive examination there are lots of rights for them.

Besides ruling the BJP-led State government, he also appealed to the political leaders from the opposition side to raise their voices for the rights of differently-abled persons.

Meanwhile, one Mudang Yabyang asserted that she already submitted a representation to Chief Secretary and Secretary-Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission to implement the rights of Differently Abled persons.

She said that in her representation, I have sought an Exception from the Job application fees. 5% relaxation in minimum cut-off marks for qualifying for any job examinations, Compensatory time of not less than 20 minutes per hour of the examination for PWD candidates, and Separate seating arrangement in various job examination centres preferably on the ground floor for the convenience of PWD candidates.

She further appealed to all the student-based organizations to support the cause of the PWD, so that none can be deprived of their rights.
