Itanagar police arrested gold fraudster with an acid bottle, chemical powder

ITANAGAR: Capital police arrested one fraudster – Shyam Sah along with an acid bottle, chemical powder and other gear which was used to extract gold from a chain of one Tumyir Badak of Gohpur Tinali, Itanagar, on Monday.

She complained that, Sah in the pretext of cleaning her gold chain was extracting the gold from it using chemicals.

According to the complainant, the man introduced himself as an agent of some company that sells chemical powder to clean gold and silver chains. During the process of cleaning, the complainant noticed certain suspicious behaviour. She immediately took back her gold chain and found that her gold chain appeared to be different altogether. On further observation, she found that certain metal like particles were accumulated in a container with some chemical liquid.

On receiving the complaint, a team of police led by SDPO Itanagar Kamdam Sikom and SDPO Naharlagun Rike Kamsi interrogated Sah where he confessed committing the fraud. Further, to get more authenticity on the case, a goldsmith was called upon.

Later the goldsmith found 0.58 mg of gold extracted from the chain in the liquid accumulated by Sah, which costs around Rs 2,378.

Later an FIR was filed by Tumyir Badak and the fraudster has been arrested and the case is under investigation.
