DOIMUKH: Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) Sponsored Weeklong 'Faculty Development Programme' on "M.K. Gandhi's Nai Talim, Experiential Learning, Work Education in School and Teacher Education Curriculum organized jointly by Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi (Central) University & MGNCRE, Department of Higher Education, MHRD was inaugurated on Tuesday here.

Inaugurating the day first session, Coordinator of the Programme Prof. J. Sahoo inviting all the participants from Arunachal and Assam, introduced the central theme and objectives of the Faculty Development Programme.

He said that 21st Century is the age of 'panic' and 'peace'. Education in 21st century is a transformational element and is an input for socio-economic growth.

Asserting the demands of 21st century to 'excel' or 'exit', Sahoo said that India today has largest education system and consumer markets. Could we aspire for Indian Class Education which is service oriented, society oriented and Life oriented than Profit Oriented and Market Oriented? He emphasized on 3 Es-Expansion, Excellence and Equity in Education matching to Arunachal Govt. Policy 3Es-Education, Electricity & Employment.

Quoting line from the Upanishad, "Vidya dadati vinayam, vinayad yat patratam! Patratvad Dhanam Appnoti, Dhanad Dharmah Tato Sukham" "Education makes man courteous, and polite, from courtesy one gets competence and ability, from competence, money comes, from money, a person can perform his duties and can do righteous things, from right actions a person can live happily." he said to reform for Quality Education to save the future generations from the inevitable war by teaching them the defense of Peace.
