Man Arrested On Charge Of Murdering His Stepfather

PASIGHAT: The Pasighat police finally arrested Suku Deo Gowala, who was charged for the murder of his stepfather in the year 2020 from Dimow Samjuli village under Silapathar Police Station, Assam on Tuesday.

East Siang SP Sumit Kumar Jha said that the accused was absconding and concealed himself from the police for the last two years. Two years back, the accused had come to meet his mother at Niglok Village, under Ruksin Subdivision, where his mother was staying with Pulin Burman. Burman was his mother's second husband.

He said in the next evening, the accused had a verbal hot spat with his stepfather on some trivial issues and during which he hacked his stepfather to death with a machete (dao) and finally beheaded him to death.

"After committing the crime, the accused had instantly fled away to Assam in the wee hours of the night. A case vides RKN/PS/FIR/No. 12/2020, U/S 302 IPC was registered and Inspector Abraham Taying was investigating," he said, adding that the accused had been constantly changing his location and concealing himself from Police.

His mother, who is the complainant in the case, joined him later after selling and disposing of all the immovable properties, owned by her husband, he added.

Jha said that the accused to conceal had travelled to almost entire parts of Assam disguised as labour revealed in his statement. Subsequently, a non-bailable warrant of arrest was issued against the accused by the Court of CJM, Pasighat which was endorsed to Assam Police but the warrants were returned as un-executed.

"On receiving reliable input on the accused whereabouts by the IO Taying, the matter then liaised with SDPO Jonai, OC Silapathar and Incharge OP Dimov. Accordingly, the team in civil dress nabbed the accused from a chicken market," he said. Jha, who was constantly monitoring and supervising the case, congratulated and appreciated the Police team for their dedication and bravery in the line of duty.
