The trekking expedition was flagged off by Congress MLA Nabam Tuki at Taashi, the original village of Tai Bida.

The trekking led by Rajya Sabha MP from the state Nabam Rebia, was participated along with Toru ZPM Taba Rama, Everesters Dr Anshu Jamsenpa, Tagit Sorang and Tame among others. The trekking started from "Tangar Yarne" at Kheel and reached Budum Langney on December 28 last. The Trekkers had a night halt at Budum Langney camp and later trekked down for the base camp in Satang Village. Finally, the trekkers reached base camp on Wednesday.

Later, a trekker's base camp at Satang village was inaugurated by Rebia in presence of his entourage members.

Rebia, who is also an avid nature lover strongly advocated for the preservation of wildlife and the environment in the state.

The MP assured and agreed to facilitate funds for the construction of a trekking route from Kheel to Satang via Budum Langney, rest house at Tasi with fencing around footprints and CC Steps, fencing to protect Budum Langney and furnishing of trekkers' base camp at Satang village. To the much applause of the Sattang villagers, Rebia also suggested that the trekkers' base camp should be named after Taba Rayo head gaon burha of Sattang village. He also proposed the creation of a community reserved forest in Budum Langne area.

All the prominent members present on the occasion shared their experiences and spoke at length on the preservation of wildlife and the promotion of eco-tourism in the region.

The motive of the trekking was to educate the people about the mythology of Tai Bida, founder of Ganga Lake (Gekar sinyi) Itanagar.

He was a legendary figure in Nyishi community. The footprints of Tai Bida is still visible with a hole where Balang Budum-a kind of snake-appeared before Tai Bida as a symbol of his downfall while the famous Ganga Lake (Gekar Sinyi) in Itanagar is also associated with Tai Bida.

The Trekking programme was organized by John Panye CMD of Tribal Adventure Tours in collaboration with Papumpare district administration.
