Nyeman Wangsu Wins Arunachal Pradesh's First Gold at 38th National Games

ITANAGAR: Ace wushu player Nyeman Wangsu secured Arunachal Pradesh's first gold medal at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand on Thursday. According to chef de mission Abraham K Techi, she secured the medal in the Daoshu event.

This marks her third consecutive gold medal at the National Games. Previously, she won gold in the last two editions held in Gujarat and Goa. The victories highlighted her expertise in this Chinese martial art.

Chera Loku and Yorna Rosni secured silver and bronze medals, respectively, in wushu at the ongoing National Games on Thursday. Loku earned silver in the Taijiquan event, while Rosni claimed bronze in the Nandao event. Arunachal Pradesh was eliminated early from the men's badminton team event, suffering identical 1-4 losses to Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. This edition of the National Games marked Arunachal's first-ever qualification in badminton.

Meanwhile, Manipur showed its strength in Wushu at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, with its athletes winning many medals to increase their total.

T Saya Chanu won a gold medal in the women's Changquan event, while Marshal Salam and K Panthoi Devi won silver in the men’s and women’s Changquan events, respectively. Y Bonish and Kongjengbam Luxmi won gold in the Nanquan competition, and Hanjabam Langlentombi took silver in the same event.

Manipur’s Wushu team won six more medals at the Games, showing how strong the athletes are. Chef de Mission Rajchandra Moirangthem praised them for their great performances, saying they worked hard and stayed strong despite the challenges during preparation because of ongoing issues.
