Itanagar: “I am touched with humanitarian services given to empower poor, unprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society, including children and women through education by Oju Welfare Association (OWA),” said London-based Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence (SCCE) founder Ragasudha Vinjamuri aka Sudha, after visiting the voluntary organization. As no plant could grow without water and sunlight, the smiling faces of the kids proved the nourishment given to them by the OWA headed by chairperson Anya Ratan, Sudha said.

Sudha announced to help the philanthropic organisation whatever way possible for continuing its noble mission. She also advised the students to study sincerity to rise to higher pedestal in life.

Earlier, Ratan highlighted various activities including schooling, craft training and bead making etc to victims of social oppression, suppression, sexually exploited victims and rescued child labourers for their rehabilitation.

“OWA founder, Biny Yanga Maya, affectingly called ‘amma’ by the inmates was of the firm belief that quality education in a secured environment could help them to forget traumatized past life and begin a new life ahead. That is why the inmates are involved in various activities under expert care,” Ratan added.

It may be mentioned here that Sudha was shortlisted for prestigious Asian Women Achievers Award under Art and Culture category to be conferred with Natya Kala Sudha title in Chennai earlier this year and the first Indian artist to perform Bharatnatyam in House of Commons and House of Lords for more than 15 times to ink record not only in India but in UK too as her performance in British Parliament found her a place in Limca Book of Records.
