PASIGHAT: MLA Kaling Moyong on Monday formally handed over the 10% State Resources (SOR) Grants to the Gram Panchayats and Zilla Parishad of East Siangat at a formal function organised by the department of Panchayat Raj under the initiative for devolution of 10% share under State Own Revenue (SOR) to PRIs of the state and the subsequent fund release to the districts by the Panchayat department at DC conference hall on Monday.

ZPC Olen Rome, DC Tayi Taggu, PD cum District Panchayat Development Officer (DPDO), Member Secretaries and all Zilla Parishad members( ZPMs) and Gram Panchayat Chairpersons (GPCs) of East Siang district were present on the day. Moyong, while addressing the PRI members called for prioritising schemes as per the sustainable, participatory, inclusive, comprehensive and empowering (SPICE) goal in their respective areas. The MLA stressed on health, education, organic farming and creating various other community assets as per the theme of localisation of sustainable development goals through Gram Panchayat Institutions. The MLA also took the opportunity to highlight the various ongoing developmental projects and sought their cooperation. DC Tayi Taggu also stressed on timely implementation of grass-root projects by chalking out their action plans in proper manner and for timely utilisation of SOR funds ,so that performance grants could be availed. ZPC Olen Rome extending his gratitude to the leadership of CM Pema Khandu for the initiative of the state government said that it was a beginning in the process for empowering the grass-root through the 10% State share grant to PRIs.

Rome also urged the PRIs members to work in coordination with their respective member in formulating action plans. Earlier, District Panchayat Development Officer (DPDO), T. Padung also asked for timely submission of UCs for SOR funds and urged the sectoral working committee comprising of Gram Panchayat and Zilla Parishad members to identify critical gaps in grass root planning.
