ITANAGAR: With the start of the construction of the underpass at Bank Tinali, there was utter chaos across the Itanagar. The capital administration has diverted traffic to avoid Bank Tinali section where an underpass is being constructed as part of 4 lane road project from Chandranagar to Papu Hapa. In areas like the C- sector, DDK road, massive traffic jams are regularly witnessed. Commuters get stranded for hours.

Speaking to this daily, Deputy Commissioner of Capital Complex Komkar Dulom informed that administration is aware of the problem and is working to fix them.

"We are learning and sorting out the issue on a daily basis. This underpass is very important for the Itanagar. The contractor has sought three months time to complete work. There are problems and we understand it," he said.

The DC further stated that except underpasses and bridges, the four-lane work will be completed by 31st March 2021. "The four-lane highway will be much better," he claimed.

Capital SP Jimmy Cheram has also assured to put more people at ground to manage the traffic. "We will put more signage for better understanding of the people. Many are still confused about the diversion due to which problems have compounded. I appeal to the people to cooperate and to please avoid parking at places that have no parking areas," he said.

The SP further appealed to the vehicle owners to understand the need of a good road in the capital complex and to support the work being carried out by the administration.
