ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Police has solved several cases related to Internet fraud and help people get back their money through its Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (CFCFRM), a senior police official said here on Wednesday.

The CFCFRM was made operational at the Cyber Cell here in June 26, this year.

Special Investigation Team (SIT) superintendent of police Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that the CFCFRM has so far received more than 25 complaints of online financial fraud from several parts of the state.

"The police officials manning and operating the CFCFRM has managed to recover more than Rs 1.40 lakh so far for various complainants and the money has been refunded to them," Singh said.

The SP added that the online fraudsters have adopted modus operandi of calling innocent people on their mobile and enticing them with lucrative offers.

"The fraudsters call people representing e-commerce sites such as Amazon, Jeena Sikho Lifecare Company, etc, and tell them that they have won phones and cars for which they ask some money to be deposited for clearance of the prizes and gifts to be delivered to the customer. Unaware of the fraudulent tactics, the innocent customers fall under the trap and end up losing their money," Singh said.

The SP has further asked the people to directly call on the helpline number 155260 manned and operated by the state police to report cases of cyber fraud.

"I would like to appeal to all to not respond to such types of fraud calls and messages. If such an offence occurs, the matter may be reported to the CFCFRM immediately by calling the cyber helpline number," he added.
