ITANAGAR: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) has said that the university has exercised the normal process of addressing an issue or a complaint by sending a show-cause notice to research scholar and general secretary of the 'Rajiv Gandhi University Research Scholars Forum', PremTaba.

Reacting to the statement issued by the AAPSU (All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union) wherein it had asked the RGU Vice-Chancellor to recall the notice, the university said that "written complaints have been received from different forums/associations against Taba for his unacceptable behaviour in public and on social-media platforms."

Taba has been served a show-cause notice under the normal official procedure of the university. He will have to submit an explanation or clarification within a given period of time, adding that no decision has been taken as yet to rusticate or discontinue his scholarship without hearing his point of view or explanation according to the due process, added the university.

The RGU administration also said that the statements repeatedly carried out in the newspaper(s) and social-media platforms stating that the research scholars have been allowed to stay in hostels at various institutions are ''false and misleading''.

All educational institutions -- both government and private -- including hostels are being closed from May 1, 2021, in the State. Rajiv Gandhi University has not acted whimsically, hastily, and unilaterally on its own, stated the statement.

The decision has been taken in conformity with the directives of the government and as per the DMA (Disaster Management Act)-2005 keeping in view the severity of the pandemic situation, added the authorities of RGU.
