RSS Chief Stresses Cultural Heritage and Modern Aspirations in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday emphasized the need to balance cultural heritage with modern aspirations. Dr. Bhagwat, who visited the Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo, a revered indigenous prayer centre of the Nyishi community, at Naharlagun near here, highlighted the role of spiritual practices in promoting societal harmony and nation-building.

The Namlo, located near the peaceful banks of the Pachin River, is dedicated to the worship of the Sun (Donyi) and the Moon (Polo), holding deep spiritual and cultural significance for the region's indigenous people.

Dr. Bhagwat participated in the traditional prayer ceremony with humility and reverence, showing deep respect for the spiritual heritage of the state's indigenous communities, a statement said.

He engaged in discussions with Namlo priests and devotees, appreciating their efforts in safeguarding their traditions.

The Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo serves as a spiritual centre for the Nyishi people, where weekly prayers are held to honour the celestial deities representing enlightenment and harmony with nature.

Dr. Bhagwat's visit reaffirmed the importance of preserving these ancient traditions and their role in fostering cultural unity.

The visit concluded with prayers for universal peace and well-being, leaving the devotees inspired. Dr Bhagwat's presence reinforced the significance of preserving indigenous traditions for a more inclusive and harmonious future, the statement said.

His Arunachal visit follows a five-day engagement in Guwahati, Assam.

Concluding his Arunachal Pradesh tour on Sunday, Dr. Bhagwat will return to Guwahati for further centenary-related engagements, sources said.

The RSS, founded in 1925 by Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, will complete 100 years on Vijaya Dashami this year, with various programs planned across the country.
