Surgical training conducted in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Johnson & Johnson (J&J), in collaboration with the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) near here, began a three-day surgical training on 'basic surgical skills and minimal invasive surgery' at the Arunachal State Nursing College (ASNC) on Thursday.

TRIMHS director Dr Moji Jini and Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Swami Vishweshananda inaugurated the J&J mobile laboratory, brought from Mumbai, and declared the training open for 200 final-year students in batches.

While inspecting the laboratory, Dr Jini flanked by Swamiji, checked the instruments asked J&J trainer Anshuman Baruah to teach the students about handling of gowning & globing, identification of surgical instruments, introducing to various needles and threads.

Dr Jini, a noted super surgeon, also demonstrated a particular technique to make stitching effective and quicker. He also lauded J&J for offering the maiden training.

Highlighting the relevance of the training, in his address earlier, TRIHMS coordinator assistant Prof Dr Ojin Komut advised the students to take the practical aspects very seriously to benefit as a medical professional.

Besides students, TRIHMS chief medical superintendent Dr Dukhum Raina and OSD Dr Rajen Kombo, few senior doctors and ASNC principal Boa Yania Taw, among others, were also present.

While TRIHMS is the first multi-specialty medical college-cum-hospital of Arunachal Pradesh, J&J is an US-based multinational corporation founded in 1886 that develops medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and consumer packaged goods.
