ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Environment & Forest Minister Mama Natung Test has asked ''the East Kameng district administration to ensure that each individual entering East Kameng district from other districts of the State and States undergo COVID-19 test. He also appealed to the district authorities to ensure that every individual follows the COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. The Minister announced that he made these appeals while speaking to reporters here.

Minister Mama Natung also stressed the need for each individual to get vaccinated while assuring all help from his side to provide COVID-diagnostic kits to the East Kameng team in the fight against the pandemic. "I appeal to the public of the district to follow the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) issued by the district administration in the fight against COVID-19. Though we are well equipped and have a vast experience to contain the pandemic, the people should cooperate with the district administration and also jointly ensure that every single person is vaccinated," he added.

Town MLA Tapuk Taku also assured all help from his side in this war against COVID-19. He also appealed to the CBOs (Community Based Organizations), SHGs (Self Help Groups) and the district administration to create more awareness among the people on the second wave of the pandemic.

Earlier during the day, the Minister had held a meeting of 'Team East Kameng' at the Kameng Hall in the DC's office near here. The district-level coordination meeting on COVID-19 preparedness, held under his chairmanship, discussed various issues pertaining to the district.

The core issues pertained to the preparedness of the district administration to contain the surge of COVID-19 during the second wave of the pandemic, finalization of location for the establishment of MRF (Material Recovery Factory), work progress on the construction of mini Secretariat in the district, and also the progress of work on the Seppa-Chayangtajo Road among other issues.

Concerned over the finalization of the area for the construction of MRF in the district, Taku appealed to the public not to create any hindrance in the departmental work. He said that the major problem of the district is now to finalize the location to set up MRF. "The MRF will be built in such an area or location where no one is affected. The Department will ensure that no person or animal is adversely affected due to this project. Therefore, the public should support the department of Urban Development Agency (DUDA) rather than creating futile nuisance," he added.

Taku also appealed to the district SP (Superintendent of Police) to strictly deal with the rise in drug addiction among a section of the youths in the district. He asked the Police department to check the consumption of drugs by the youths in the district.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner P. Parviamal Abhsihek and District Medical Officer (DMO) Kaya Lapung highlighted the preparedness of the administration in containing the surge of COVID-19 in the district. DUDA Executive Engineer Tarh Ache informed that gathering on various obstacles being faced by the Department in finalizing the proper location for the construction of MRF.

In his final remarks, Minister Natung said that he will provide funds from the MLALAD, adding that the funds of the four legislators from the district will be utilised for construction of the approach road and the boundary wall for MRF in Pampoli. He appealed to the PWD to complete all the remaining works in the construction of Seppa-Chayangtajo Road.

Later, the Minister Mama Natung along with Town MLA Tapuk Taku, DC and heads of department inspected the district mini Secretariat which is nearing completion. Later, the team also visited the office of 'East Kameng Weavers & Artisans Co-operative Society' and interacted with the workers.

Natung also assured to provide four more weaving machines to the Society to encourage the youths and create self employment avenues in the field of weaving. He also flagged off a vehicle for officials of the 'Arunachal State Livelihood Mission' during the day.
