BORDUMSA: A total of three cadres of the banned militant 'ENGG' (Eastern Naga National Government) were nabbed by Bordumsa-based unit of the Army from along the Assam-Arunachal border location of Bordumsa's Wakhetna area here in Changlang district recently.

Of the three apprehended cadres, two identified as self-styled Major Deing Ong Kochung and self-styled private Mamo Bongtai were active members while Wamu Mossang was a surrendered cadre of the outlawed militant origination ENGG.

''Having received authentic inputs about the movements of the outfits in the area demanding extortion money from the tea leaf factory, small tea growers and local businessmen, we launched an operation in the vulnerable areas along the banks of Nao Dehing river and nabbed them together,'' said the security agency while talking to The Sentinel .

''They were drawing strategies to collect the illegally demanded money when the arrest was made on Tuesday evening from their hideouts', added a formal source on the condition of anonymity.

The police recovered two wheelers and several personnel documents were recovered from the possession of the apprehended cadres. However, no arms could be recovered from them.

Confirming the development, the Officer-In Charge of Arunachal's Bordumsa station said that the arrested cadres admitted of their unlawful association with the banned militant organization; and accordingly, a case (19/2020) has been registered and being executed on the charges of 'Extortion and Unlawful Activities (Prevention ) Act-1967'.

Earlier on December 21, 2020, two other cadres of the ENGG, identified as self-styled second lieutenant John alias Ngapha Gangsa of Longding district and self-styled sepoy Jimmy alias Kamshing Ngemung of Kharsang area were also arrested from the Galenja area here when they were serving extortion letters.
