Training on bakery items concludes in Changlang district

CHANGLANG: The week-long training on making bakery items concluded on Wednesday. It was organized by the 'Green Awn Society' (GAS) of the district under the 'Micro Enterprise Development Programme' (MEDP) and sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

The training was attended by 30 women from various self help groups (SHGs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The trainees were also given certificates for clearing the training programme.

Addressing the trainees, district Deputy Commissioner Devansh Yadav asked them to make various kinds of bakery items which are different from those which are sold in the market. He urged them to adopt that the 'Challenge' factor to make better cakes than the ones in the present market. "People are inclined towards the unique factors in cakes. Therefore, one should think to make better cakes which taste better, look better and are different from the normal cakes," he said, adding that the taste and demand of the consumers should also be known first.

He also advised the trainees to go around the market and see the varieties of cake items, their price and the cake makers etc. So that one can make better cakes than the others and also sell at a minimal price making all profits.

The NABARD District Development Manager (DDMO), Kamal Roy informed that the major objective for approving the training was to provide training to the women within the district.

He also informed that the NABARD is providing a platform to sell the finished products in rural mart. "We are providing every possible help to the people under MEDP for capacity building. Once they finish such training under capacity building programmes, one can also apply for a bank loan to start business," he added.
