ITANAGAR: Trans Arunachal Drive, the car rally as part of 'Dekho Apna Desh, Dekho Apna Pradesh' scheme was flagged of on Thursday at Pangsau Pass on the Myanmar border by State Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein.

The 12-day road trip covering a distance of 2,000 kilometers would traverse the entire State from Pangsu Pass in the east to Zemithang in th Tawang district on the Indo-Tibet border in the west.

The event is being organized by the State Tourism Department as part of 'Dekho Apna Desh, Dekho Apna Pradesh', which aims to put on display the tourist attractions, destinations and biodiversity of the State, official sources informed here.

While extending his best wishes to the team, Mein said that through the lenses of all the participants, the beauty of Arunachal would reach far and wide across the globe and in coming days, more of super cars would come to the State to drive across the Trans-Arunachal Highway with the improved connectivity and quality road.

Mein said that Arunachal Pradesh will be the next most sought after tourist destination and added that the Government has enhanced allocation under Chief Minister Paryatan Yojana from Rs 4 crore in 2021-22 to Rs 8 crore in 2022-23, besides promoting home stays across the State for giving affordable stay and experience the local cultures.

"Arunachal is also one of the bio-diversity hotspots with rich flora & fauna," the Deputy Chief Minister said adding that it provides scope for research as well as nature tourism.

He announced that the famous pilgrimage site of Parshuram Kund in the Lohit district of the State is being developed into a major tourist destination and seven lakes track in the Dibang Valley district would be favourite tourist destination for the adventure lovers.

Mein expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari for giving special attention for infrastructure development in North-East, especially in railway, road and air connectivity.

On the memorandum submitted by the villagers of Nampong in the Changlang district on reopening of Indo-Myanmar market through Pangsau Pass and granting permission for domestic tourists to visit up to th Indo-Myanmar international border, Mein assured to take up the matter at the highest level.

The Deputy Chief Minister also assured to hold the next Trans Arunachal Drive at Pangsau Pass in a much bigger manner.

State Legislative Assembly Speaker PD Sona, Advisor Tourism Laisam Simai, Tourism Secretary Sadhana Deori, 25 Sector Assam Rifles Brigadier Swarn Singh also spoke on the occasion, the sources added.
