Itanagar: Three insurgent groups NSCN, Ulfa (Independent), and RPF (PLA) on Monday claimed responsibility for the attack on an Assam Rifles personnel near Tenmo village in Arunachal's Changlang district on Sunday in which two jawans were killed and left many others injured.

A statement by the proscribed Ulfa (I) said that the attack was jointly carried out as part of their protest against security forces and the government in the Western South East Asian (WeSEA) region, comprising the entire Northeast and part of Myanmar.

The three insurgent groups were operating under the umbrella of Western South East Asia (WeSEA) for "self-determination".

"The WeSEAn revolution will endure and move forward as long as India illegally occupies and dominates our grievances. The more India oppresses and refuses to recognize our genuine struggle, we will continue to defend our legitimate rights at all cost," they said in a statement.
