Week-long Fire Service Day celebrated at East Siang District

PASIGHAT: The East Siang District Fire and Emergency Services Department of East Siang District Police observed Fire Service Week with the theme “Awareness in Fire Safety for the Growth of National Infrastructure”.

The East Siang district SP Sumit Kr. Jha informed that the week started with paying homage to fire martyrs by observing a two-minute silence, followed by an awareness drive and pamphlet distribution on fire safety in fire accident-prone areas of the township. During the week, an evacuation drill was carried out at Assa Diagnostics and Nursing Centre, a prominent healthcare facility in Pasighat, and among other activities, a poster-making competition on ‘Fire Safety’ and an evacuation drill-cum-awareness programme were conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pasighat.

An awareness demonstration and subsequent evacuation drill were also conducted at Reliance Trends Pasighat, a prominent shopping outlet in the busy market area of the town. “As part of the Fit India initiative, volleyball and tug of war competitions, etc., were conducted for both men and women categories at the 5th IRBN Headquarters Ground, and the sports events saw the participation of various teams, including 5th IRBN, Rashtriya Raksha University, Team GTC, Team Sawmill, etc., to name a few. A mini-marathon was conducted from Raneghat Bridge to Fire Station Pasighat in both men’s and women’s categories for youngsters who showed immense enthusiasm for the event and made it a success,” Jha said.
