104 schools to be constructed in Assam's tea-garden areas: Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: In yet another development in the field of education, the government of Assam will lay the foundation stones for the construction of 104 high schools in the tea garden areas of the state. The laying of the foundation stone ceremonies will be held on November 1 and 2. '

"Tomorrow marks a significant day for Assam as we construct 104 schools in the tea-garden areas of the state," said Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Calling it a "revolutionary work" in the field of education, Sarma said that by next April or May, the schools will be ready to be started. In the coming month, the government will post advertisements for the various job roles in the upcoming 104 high schools.

With the approval from the Medical Council of India (MCI), the Diphu Medical College will open its doors for 100 medical seats starting from this year. In this year's medical admission, the government have reserved eight seats for Koch Rajbongshi, five seats for Ahom tribe, and four seats for Chutia tribe, said Sarma. All of these reserved seats will be from the existing OBC quota.

In the coming year, Lakhimpur Medical College will also be started, and with that, the MBBS seats in the state will also increase.
