PATHSALA: Like the previous years, this year too the people of Bhutepuwa area of Bhaghmara in Baska district of Assam are celebrating the five-day long Doul Mahotsav which started from March 27. The historic 121-year-old Doul Mahotsav has been organized by the Bhutepuwa Bori Deul Uddjapan Samitti at Sri Sri Narasingha Kirtanghar in the district.

This Mahotsav fills the hearts of all the people of Baska with fervour and colour. Holigeets are performed on all days of the Mahotsav. These folk songs are compositions in praise of Lord Krishna. There will be various programmes during these days.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ranjit Kumar Dass sang Holi song at Pathsala during a function held at Azad Bhavan. Doul festival is a famous festival in India. Apart from the rest of the country it is also celebrated by the people of Assam. During this festival, the people of the area forget their sorrows and agonies and celebrate this festival with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm. Doul Utsav is also called holi or fakuwa. The festival celebrates the eternal and divine love of Radha and Krishna. It also signifies the triumph of good over evil.
