GUWAHATI: From participating in colourful processions to attending events — Holi in Assam's poll season is prompting many a candidate to use several novel ways to reach out to and bond with voters. Today campaigning is mixed with the Holi celebration.

345 candidates are in the fray in the second phase covering 39 constituencies. Amid campaigning for the second phase of assembly polls slated on April 1, political parties are making all out efforts to woo the voters along with the festival of colours.

Although the campaigning for the second phase ends tomorrow, politicians are making the best use of the festival.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today participated in an event in Fancy Bazar Guwahati. While exchanging greetings with the crowd gathered, the minister was seen drenched in colours.

"Celebrated Holi, the festival of colours, by meeting people and exchanging greetings in Guwahati. May the festival bring joy, prosperity and peace to everyone's life. #HappyHoli," Sonowal tweeted.


MP Gaurav Gogoi who has been campaigning in Silchar was seen celebrating Holi with Congress leader Sushmita Dev.

"The festive atmosphere while celebrating Holi with our people and their optimism, warmth, and affection that we experienced in Silchar are unforgettable. This #Holi is truly extra special!" tweeted Gogoi.


Meanwhile, Congress leader Pradyut Bordoloi who has been campaigning at Nagaon was seen celebrating the festival with the people of Nagaon, people were seen applying colours on the Minister as he interacted with them.

Sharing a video on Twitter he wrote, "Celebration of Abir festival with Nagaon residents #HappyHoli2021"

"Wishing you all fresh new beginnings & prosperity on the auspicious occasion of #Holi. As the stage is set for people in Assam to embrace #Congressor5Guarantee, may the future be full of opportunities & welfare for all," he added.


The party's state media chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma, while sharing a colour smeared face wrote on her Twitter handle, "Let us all find time to appreciate and enjoy the colors that life has to offer. Happy Holi to all !!"


State Cabinet Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been addressing poll rallies today and urged people to vote for the BJP.

While addressing a rally in Raha, expressing his gratitude to the people he stated, "This is such a wonderful moment as you turn out in such large numbers to splash your colors of love on Holi."


State BJP President also observed the festival of colours wishing people on the festival the minister tweeted, "wishing the people of the state a happy festival of colors."
