The 125th anniversary of Tezpur Bangali Aboitanik Natya Samaj was celebrated with a five-day colourful programme at the Tezpur Bangali Aboitanik Natya Samaj premises.

TEZPUR: The 125th anniversary of Tezpur Bangali Aboitanik Natya Samaj was celebrated with a five-day colourful programme at the Tezpur Bangali Aboitanik Natya Samaj premises.
The programme started with hoisting of the flag of the association by Tapan Ganguli and lighting of lamp by Gautam Maitra, president and secretary respectively of the association. It was followed by a special discussion entitled Boithaki 125 in presence of other members.
The first day's programme was inaugurated by Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das. Several prolific plays were staged at the festival which began with Assamese play Sa hat mathu presented by United Artist Assam. It was written and directed by renowned writer and director Aishwarya Kakati and lead role was played by Simi Goswsmi, Rajib Sarma and Dip Kumar Kalita.
Nandanik, Silchar presented Bengali play Janmabhumir Barna Porichoi, written and directed by Dipankar Chandra, which was staged on Saturday. Nagaon Bangali Sanmilani presented the Bengali play Haribabu@development.com, written and directed by Randip Nandi was staged on Sunday.
Tezpur Bangali Aboitanik Natya Samaj present Bangali play Sadgati, written and directed by noted actor and writer, Joydip Dey was staged on Sunday. The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur, Deba Kumar Mishra.
The concluding day programme on January 8 will start cultural extravaganza, felicitation, etc. Renowned singer of West Bengal, Prashmita Paul and Sidhu will participate in the programme.
