Guwahati: In a meeting held by the Assam Cabinet, the Government of Assam has promised to provide electricity to 13,120 primary schools in the state.

Many key decisions were taken in the cabinet meeting which was addressed by Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.

As per the statements made by the Health Minister, there has been no electricity provided to 4,80,295 households in the state as of now.

A total of Rs 1718 crore has been sanctioned by the Assam Government for the rural areas of Assam.

As per the announcement, the Assam government will provide electricity to 48,231 Anganbadi kendras.

The Health Minister also stated the government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore for reconstructing and repairing all of the new and old police stations in the state.

A total of 9000 transformers have been decided to be purchased by the Assam government. Additionally, 4200 old transformers will also be repaired by the government.

Earlier this month, the Assam Cabinet had also decided to free street vendors from stamp duties imposed on loans. Street vendors are now able to sanction loans that amount to Rs. 10000 without the additional stamp duty or other charges. This would also speed up the process of the disbursal of loans.
