GOLAGHAT: The 142 Bn CRPF observed Valour Day on Friday by adhering to all the COVID-19 precautionary measures.

At the outset of the programme, Bharat Kumar Vaishnav, Commandant 142 Bn, paid homage to the martyrs at the Saheed Smarak and took salute in the quarter guard as per the tradition of the force. Thereafter, the Commandant took special Sainik Sammelan and commended all the gallantry medal awardees and also paid tribute to those valiant heroes who had sacrificed their lives on April 9, 1965 to repel the attack at 'Sardar' and 'Tak'posts in the Rann of Kutch during Indo-Pak War of 1965.

Further, the Commandant and officers of 142 Bn also paid to tribute to Saheed Praveen Bora (resident of village Chinatoli, Kacharihat, Golaghat) who gave supreme sacrifice for the country in Punjab while posted in 81 Bn CRPF and attained martyrdom on October 28, 1989. In the evening, inter-coy cricket match and barakhana were organized where the mother and family of Saheed Praveen Bora were invited and honoured by the commandant, senior officers, and jawans of 142 Bn CRPF.
