GOLAGHAT: The 142 Bn CRPF organized the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Saturday at the headquarter premises at Jonaki Nagar in Golaghat district by maintaining COVID-19 protocol.

Commandant Bharat Kumar Vaishnav and Dr. T. Balaji, Medical Officer of 142 BN CRPF, welcomed all the officers, subordinate officers and jawans who attended the programme. On this occasion, the Commandant said that the objective of celebrating this day was to raise awareness among people about the dangerous effects of drugs and also its illicit trafficking. Dharmbir Kumar, Deputy Commandant Chandan Kumar and Assistant Commandant were also present.

MANGALDAI: Synchronizing with the worldwide celebration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Mangaldai Thana Committee of Village Defense Organization on Saturday organized a simple function observing all COVID protocol at the conference hall of the organization.

Taking part in the function, Officer in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station Inspector, Dinabondhu Bhuyan urged upon all the guardians and parents to keep a strict vigil over their wards so that they could not be lured by the organized gang of anti-social elements involved in drug peddling and illicit trafficking. Appreciating the role of the members of the Village Defense Organization, Inspector Bhuyan made a humble appeal to all the volunteers and office bearers to make strict vigilance on the movement of such anti-social elements in their respective areas.

Deputy adviser of Village Defense Organization, Mukut Saikia in his short speech firmly declared to make every village free from drug abuse and illicit trafficking and also hoped that all volunteers and office bearers of the Village Defense Organization would continue their contribution with more zeal and enthusiasm. He also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his praiseworthy initiative in making intensive operations against the drug peddlers throughout the State.

Mediaperson Bhargab Kumar Das also addressed the function presided over by Thana Committee of Village Defense Organization, Nayan Das while Circle Organizer Kushal Medhi explained the objective and significance of the day.
