LAKHIMPUR: The three-day long programme of the 14th session of the Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students' Union (AASU) kick-started at Harmoti from Thursday. The event was organized under the auspices of Harmoti regional unit of AASU at the playground of Harmoti Higher Secondary School.

On Thursday, the agenda of the programmes started with the inauguration of the main gate of the session venue by Herombo Prashad Baruah, the Rector of Harmoti Jatiya Bidyalaya. It was followed by a series of competition events on recitation of poem, drawing, quiz, debate, Bhupendra Sangeet, Jyoti Sangeet and Bishnu Rabha Sangeet among the students. The registration of delegates started at 4:00 pm. Former student leader Dipak Neog inaugurated the delegates' camp. In the evening, a series of competitions on creative dance, based on Bhupendra Sangeet, Jyoti Sangeet and Bishnu Rabha Sangeet, was organized among the students.

On Friday, the main agenda of the event will commence with the unfurling of the AASU flag by convener Sanjib Konwar. It will be followed by swahid tarpan, first session of delegates' meeting, symposium, get-together of the fresh and former members of the AASU, second session of delegates' meeting.

On Saturday, a cultural convention and open session of the event will be held as part of the concluding day's programmes. Popular actors Siddhartha Sarmah, Deepjyoti Keot and Sumki Kachari will take part in the cultural convention.

On the other hand, AASU chief adviser Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, president Dipanka Kumar Nath and many other dignitaries of student organizations in the north-eastern region will take part in the open session.
