GOLAGHAT: Consuming poisonous mushroom turned a serious matter in Golghat district. Altogether 16 people are under treatment at Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital after consuming poisonous mushroom. These were revealed by the Joint Director of Health Services on Tuesday by a press meet held at the office of the Joint Director of Health Services.

The Joint Director of Health Services, Golaghat said that sixteen people have already been admitted to the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital after consuming wild mushroom. Of these, 15 are residents of Chotajan Bagan and one is a resident of Merapani of Golaghat district.

It has been noted that three persons of the same family died in April after eating wild mushroom in Baliguri area of Merapani. The deceased were identified as Prafulla Burman (24), Tarali Burman (23) and their child Hemanta Burman (2) and another Bikram Kumar (55) of Khumtai Bagan died in April after consuming wild mushroom. In the press conference it has been said that mass awareness programmes have been carried out about wild mushroom in the Golaghat district.

The press conference was attended by Joint Director of Health Services, District Surveillance Officer, Epidemiologist, District Program Manager, District Media Expert.
