17-year girl killed in Maibang inferno at Haflong

HAFLONG: In a devastating fire accident, a girl named Abrotha Phonglo (17), daughter of Boldao Phonglo of Dijambra, was burnt alive while dwelling houses Gobindro Hojai and Mairon Nunisa were reduced to ashes on Sunday at Dihur Phonglo in Maibang.

According to sources, the fire broke out at about 7 pm and property worth several lakhs was destroyed in the inferno. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The deceased was a student of Class VI of Maibangkro ME School. Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management authority took stock of the loss and provided some relief to both the house owners.
