Assam Government's New Policy to Contain Virus Outbreak:

Assam Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 21 announced that the Government will try and replace the pre-existing 'red zone', 'orange zone', and 'green zone' concept with the Containment Zones and Buffer Zones. However, once a district reports more than 200 cases of coronavirus, the color-coding policy could once again come into effect, he said.

"Our containment policy is this – when a case is detected in an area, that area will be visited by the Deputy Commissioner and the District Health A and the area that could be infected by the patient that will be marked as a containment zone and an area surrounding that will be marked as buffer zone", Sarma informed the media in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, the total number of cases in Assam has risen to 2,835. While 784 persons have recovered from the respiratory illness, 4 people succumbed to death due to complications.
