KOKRAJHAR: For the first time in Bodoland, the week-long International Theatre Festival will start from Saturday evening at Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar. The theatre groups from Sri Lanka and Nepal will participate in the theatre festival, besides theatre groups from seven states of India.

Massive preparations are going on in a war-footing manner to showcase the cultural extravaganza. An artistes' village has been built in the compound of Bodofa Cultural Complex.

The Lwrgi Theatre Group (LTG) of Kokrajhar is organizing the mega theatre festival with the support of department of Cinema and Theatre, BTC. Talking to The Sentinel, the president of Lwrgi Theatre Group,Swmdwn Brahma said the theatre groups from Assam, West Bengal, New Delhi, Kerala, Jharkhand, Manipur and Maharashtra will participate in the week-long festival and two teams from Nepal and Srilangkawill also participate. He said there will be three theatre groups from BTR, one each from Assam, Manipur and other states. The total number of theatres enrolled so far is 13. He called upon all to come and enjoy the mega cultural showcase to encourage the artistes and upcoming youths. He also said there would be panel discussion on various topics in the week-long festival.

MLA Lawrence Islary will inaugurate the opening ceremony on Saturday in presence of BTC CEM and renowned artistes from BTR and Assam. The drama show will start from 5 pm in the main theatre gallery while the panel discussion will be held in the artistes'village that depicts the native Bodo village.
